Too Good To Be True

by Lance Hardy   Dec 16, 2004

Your eyes
A pretty shade of blue
Your face
Too good to be true
These dreams
Are driving me mad
All I see
Is what I never had
This anger
Comes with such force
Now I’m left
With so much remorse
I’m sorry
For all that I do
Right now
I’m missing you
I can’t say
All that I’ve meant
Now I want
To truly repent
Forgive me
For what I’ve done
Yet again
I can see no sun
Days darken
I’m being allowed
To lose myself
And my mind in a cloud
Nothing’s right
When me, it involves
Everything’s wrong
And life slowly dissolves
I’m sorry again
That I’m so misunderstood
I meant no harm
Just for everything to be good
Don’t forgive me
I’m unworthy of you
But you truly were
Too good to be true

I liked all the rhymes except:
    "I’m being allowed
    To lose myself
And my mind in a cloud
    Nothing’s right
    When me, it involves
    Everything’s wrong
And life slowly dissolves" I thought the cloud one was a bit weak, if only because it took too long to get it into that sentence. The second stanza thing was sorta weird, I didn't get a good flow out of it. I was really impressed by the rhythm of this poem, it definitely works out well. Also reminds me of a certain song... ;-) I don't think the song was quite as sad though. Good rhyming, especially near the top and the very end.
