Sun wasn't shining on Me

I thought things were getting better,
I had finally got to see the sun.
I thought it had shined on me,
But I realized that day would never come.

I’m dumb to have thought so different.
I hoped that things would change.
I’m dumb to think my crazy life,
Would improve somehow with faith.

The sun was shining on someone else,
On that damn day…
I was standing behind them,
They stood tall on my way.

So I thought;
That even though I was in darkness,
It would find its way around,
To shine on me, and erase this hollowness.
And turn my frown upside down.

But I guess I’ll know better next time,
Then to think that sun would shine on me....
My life is just a blur.
Still yearning for love and to be happy...
