Presents at Christmas

by Ð맆îñ¥   Dec 17, 2004

I reach for another,
Rip the meaning off.
Only care to get the inside,
Throw it with the others.

Eager to find one more
Mine can’t all be gone.
I watch the others jealously,
As they admire the thought.

I did not know
The meaning of things,
The splendour it brings
Why I’d been given them.

I’d frown at the jokes,
Make a fool of myself
In my lack of stealth.
But then I changed.

I realized
Why it all came to be
Mainly for me,
And why love is strong.

Its Christmas time again
This time I don’t rush in
I wait my turn and I laugh
And I smile

We are happy,
Greed put aside.
Love all around me
And lots more beside.
