Calpurnia to Caesar

by Casey   Dec 18, 2004

O love of mine,
Great leader of Rome,
Tonight I must ask you
Please stay at home.

"Caesar, I never stood on ceremonies
yet now they fright me" (Act 2 Scene 2 line 13-14)
The signs are all around us
You are blind to the truth; Why can't you see?

"Your wisdom is consum'd in confidence,
Do not go forth today;
Call it my fear" (Act 2 Scene 2 line 49-50)
Say it was me who has kept you away.

I dreamed of this day
I know you know
You've heard me cry out in sleep.
Send Antony instead, please don't go.

You shall spout blood like a statue
Men of Rome soak their hands in the pool beneath you
Take heed my word, stay from the Senate House
Say you are sick, or have better things to do.

Alas my lord,
One last time, I pray thee
It will be your end
If you don't stay home, safe with me.
