Clinging to a memory

by Casey   Dec 18, 2004

Some nights I cling to his memory
because it's all I've got.
I feel how it was to have him near,
and then realize he's not.

I get so caught up in it all
recreating the past.
It's all in my head
there was no way it could ever last.

Days flew by
although hours seemed long
Held tight to his chest
was where I'd always belong.

I feel myself slipping back
capturing in words these thoughts of love,
back to when a day without you
was something I could never dream of
