Your last breath

Your Last Breath

Daughter you died,
nine years ago today.
I wanted you to be here,
but God wanted you to stay.

I surrendered to his choice,
but not without a lot of crying.
I was so angry,
and felt like I was dying.

I didn’t want you to go.
I wanted you with me.
Yet I walked into your room,
with arms so bare and empty.

Nothing in life prepared me,
for you going away.
I live a little bit…
and still die every day.

I never get to see your face,
or your smile so bright.
I cant sing you songs,
on a cold, winters night.

I know you must be in heaven,
because only angels are.
I want to touch your face,
but you are so far.

You’re in my thoughts
on this birthday night.
Out of reach…
but never out of sight.

I'm sad for you, but I'm glad to see you're using your gift to touch peoples hearts.

This is one of my fave parts:
    "Nothing in life prepared me,
    for you going away.
    I live a little bit…
    and still die every day."

    Powerful words. Beautiful poem.
