My Only Perfection

by Stef   Dec 18, 2004

You are the only perfect part of me
My one sliver of perfection in this defective image.
My frail soul is only kept from falling to pieces
By the strength you give to me through your kiss.
This flawed existence lies safely in your arms
Broken from humanity but mended by your touch.
Too weak to heal myself, I let your words wash over me
Being the only ones kind enough to reach my black heart.
This delicate personality you hold in your hands
Has been shattered by many.
You are the only individual who has seen my fragile state
And carefully helped me to my feet again
While being ready to catch me if I stumble once more.
By taking hold of my hand you took control of my life
Leading me slowly up from the darkness
That has always strangled my breath from me.
You brought back my common sense, gave me emotion
Gave me feeling that was more than pain.
You sacrificed your own freedom to lead me to my own
Of a different sort, freedom from my depression.
You gave wings to a spirit who could never fly
And lead her straight to your perfect arms.
You are the only perfect part of me.
