Shorter Days

by Sherry Lynn   Dec 18, 2004

In a world that is so dark and cold
I find that it sucks to be alone
The one thing in life that everyone desires
I will never have again

Someone to hold you at night
A companion by your side
The warm kisses from the one you love
A tender touch upon your buttocks

These are the things that a person dreams of
But what about fights and arguments
What about pain and heartbreak
These are the things that I have experienced

I always had someone I could run too
Someone that knew how I felt
I always had support
No matter how far I fell.

I no longer have that now
For my gramma is now gone and I live in hell
The days of my life are falling short
Before I leave this cold world behind
There are just a few more things I must do

My final arrangements are being made
My will can be found in a brown Kinko’s bag
The final decree for my remains is there as well
For as you can tell
My days are almost over

I cannot say exactly when
This lonely life of mine will finally end
I have a few more items to clear up
Then heaven bound I’ll become.

Some say my way is not the answer
I say this pain has lasted forever
I love you all
Don’t get me wrong
But I can’t do this anymore
I am no longer that strong

My walls of defense have been knocked down
I couldn’t stop the wrecking ball this time when it came through town
My eyes were opened, my heart left to bleed
That is when I realized that I no longer want to breathe.

My days are now numbered
Short as can be….
Please do me one favor
Don’t cry for me.

It really broke my heart to read this poem. You have to know that things will be okay only when you let them be. You've got to let go and let God work in your life. I don't know about how religious you are, but I know from experience that no one can number out your life but God, and know no one can heal you but God. Please hang on, and know that you will be fine...Keep writing, and let new light in your life. Praying for ya... Love, Libby
