Phoning Home

by Sherry Lynn   Dec 18, 2004

As I sit here
Trying my best not to cry
Every inch of me
Is wanting to die!

If I could,
I’d call one last time
Tell you that I love you
And make sure you’re fine.

It’s ironic the way things happen
We go to extremes to ensure our lives,
Yet sometimes, the one thing that can save us
Is also what kills us.

I wish heaven had a golden phone
I’d call right away
And make sure you found home

You were my favorite
There is no doubt!
You were the only grandma
I really cared about!

Who do I call now
Just to say hi?
Who do I run to
With questions about life?

When God took you
That fateful Halloween night
He took pieces of me
And left only memories.

I pick up my phone
To call you,
Then suddenly I realize
You are no longer
Here in my life.

I am sorry about your loss too. It is hard to lose those who are very close to you...sometimes we feel that a huge part of us has also passed away...but remember, there is another world that awaits for us, and that is with the Lord. Keep praying for Your grandma, I am so very sure that she is safe..and is looking down at you... Like Stormy stated, "Kee writing..it's good for the soul." God Bless. Libby
