My Sister

by EpithetPoet   Dec 18, 2004

Life grows
Inside your womb
Happily pick the cradle
Sadly pick the tomb

Hours of pain
Gives up a child
So perfect but
A temper too mild

The woman cries
As she looks at her girl
Knowing that
She would have given her the world

Clutches the child
Brings her to her breast
Sings a lullaby
Tells her to rest

The nurses leave
One by one
Send their condolences
Then their job is done

A young little girl
Ony two feet tall
Runs to see her sister
As everyone waits in the hall

The baby went to heaven
Is what i was told
And only once
Was i able to have her to hold

My sister died that day
She'd be about 10
What i wouldnt give
To hold her again

**To Camille, hope you're flying with the angels**
