A Crumbled Petal From A Yellow Rose

It has been months since you gave me that yellow rose
but I kept a single yellow petal from it that day,
As it gets older it crumbles and wilts even more,
and our friendship is the exact same way.
I hold onto our friendship tightly and it crumbles
and even when I do nothing with it, it will still fade.
You can do everything for it but nothing ever helps
even when a solid foundation is laid.
I look at that crumbled petal from that yellow rose
and memories seem to form and I start to cry...
I remember us laughing, I remember us in tears,
I remember us hugging, I remember us fighting,
I remember your smile and I remember your eyes
but most of all I remember how you hurt me and was always lying.
I love you with every inch of that heart of mine
but why you hurt me like you did, I will never know
but I will never forgive what you caused me
that is why I hold on to the crumbled petal from a yellow rose,
That is all I have left of us besides the memories of the past
but I watch it fade away as each day grows more and more
but you in my heart won’t fade like this petal does
and that is a promise from the bottom of my heart, I am sure.
