Silent witness

by Incognito   Dec 19, 2004

She is a silent witness
The lone star of her dreams
Where her body is ripped apart
Yet everything’s serene.
The people coming at her
With knives and spears of steel
Are running with false hope
For she is just not real.
And now she is a shadow
Hidden from all sight
Then thrust beneath the midday sun
She fizzles with the light.
Now in the darkest halls
She is goddess of the Styx
With Cerberus behind her,
She walks the blackened crypts.
Now she is a butterfly
Held down by a glass jar
Freedom is a hell of a price
To swap for all the stars.
The ending of her dream, begins
Beware Icarus, not of the fall.
Of madness in a lonely child.
Of Alice down the rabbit hole.
