Wildflower

by Mark Hopwood   Dec 20, 2004

If I could feel you
Where would you be?
Standing in a sea shell
Resounding in me.

If I could see you
What would you say?
Looking back at yourself
Still waiting for yesterday.

If the world was with you
How would it really be?
In the darkness of your pocket
Or hanging from a tree.

If you could see yourself
Within your own fading eyes
Would you find the graveyard
or hear the lullaby's?

If you said goodbye today
Would it be like this?
Spinning loudly inside a wine glass
Or reaching out for a magical kiss

If the world was in you
Would you ever be free?
Hurling flowers wildly
Until it was time for tea.

I really do like this poem. There's something quite simple and sweet about it which has its own charm, and the title reflects this.
