I think I pretty much understand this. Something similar happened to me, so I do know how it feels to lose the guy and all. It's a great poem.

You ask for honest comments on how to improve but I don't think I will be much help for you. It flowed nicely and it ended well. your ryhmn did not seem forced and the like. the only thing I would suggest is to use a little twist such as telling something with out just coming out and telling it. do you know what I mean??
