Yeah, things could get better,
I could magically get smarter,
Do really well at school,
Study even harder each night,
Have no time for love and friendship,
Please my parents.

Yeah, things could get better,
He could stop hitting me,
So that I could be haunted by memories,
And force myself to forgive him,
He’s a new person now,
It’s still the same.

Yeah, things could get better,
One day I could wake up looking like a goddess,
Perfect in every way,
So I could question every guy that even looked at me,
If they really cared,
Or not.

Yeah, things could get better,
I could wake up rich,
So rich that I had to install thousands of home security systems,
And hire bodyguards for my own safety,
Scared to let anyone in and loosing the value of money,
You can buy love.

Yeah, things could get better,
I could be so unbelievably popular, everyone loves me,
Loosing sight of my true friends,
Never knowing real love,
Because it all feels the same,
And I would never know hate.

Yeah things could get better.
I could live a life numb from pain,
Carry on, never being hurt,
Never knowing pleasure, for what’s one without the other?
Is it even possible to feel one alone?
Does it all feel the same after a while?

But yeah, things could get better.

Few words of advice that can either pass right over your heads or sink in, and I’m sure thousands of you already know. But for those that just need telling once, or maybe from someone other than their parents, stop looking outside to a world you desire, cos it’s what’s inside that counts. And I really mean it, so by all means pray to that shooting star, but be careful what you wish for.
