The Snow Queen

by RaInYDaYze   Dec 23, 2004

A palace wrapped in cold, the queen with a heart of ice
Turning the snow red, with each and every slice
One thousand cracked light bulbs upon a dying tree
And to the grey sky, she makes her final plea

"My frozen heart bears such a burden, I cannot make it on my own
As my walls collapse around me, the knife will find the bone"
A gash so deep and meaningful, her memories will bleed dry
At least this is what she hopes, as a tear slides from her eye

Delusioned and desperate, suicide seems like the only way
She prays for salvation and gives herself just one more day
The sun sets and rises upon the glistening castle of ice
And as she takes out the pills she thought would suffice

There are footsteps in the hallway, a knock upon the chamber door
She goes out and finds a single red rose lying on the floor
And as she picks it up, the rose begins to die
The leaves start to wilt, and she begins to cry

A tale of two lovers unfolds like a dream
The queen and a boy holding hands, how happy they seem
Then the vision falls away and the picture begins to change
The walls are painted a deep crimson, a sight so very strange

Whispers of the past seep through the floor, and begin to chill the room
Feelings of apprehension and fear creep throughout the gloom
A filmstrip in her head, shows a movie she never wanted to see
She watches as the boy is taken away from her, and now she holds the key

To a future beside him, an escape from all this pain
She swallows the pills, and they shut off her brain
As the life drains out of her, she follows the light
Knowing soon they will be together, she leaves without a fight.
