Goodbye

by unknown   Dec 24, 2004

*This poem is by Ashley houck and me Unknown… we did this while chatting for about 5 minutes because we were bored, enjoy..*

I open up your letter,
As I sit under an oak tree,
the one where we first met,
the one where I write my poetry

I start to read what you wrote
as each word runs through my head,
At the same time I remember
the last things you had said.

So let all the days and nights,
We had in each other’s arms,
Let the light shine around us,
Let our palms kiss, palm to palm..

I see where it said you love me,
And we'll never be apart,
Why didn’t we stay together?
Why did it even start?

My eyes were always open,
But I still never saw,
That the cloud that lay before us,
It made to bigger scars…

I thought about us ending,
And why that was the best,
And I still don’t know that answer
To put my head at rest…

I’ve seen your back a few times now,
I’ve know the icy shame,
I felt the blades set on your hands,
You cut me deep, I’m hooked..

My heart continues to beat
but it feels like it will die,
But I am moving forward
and my eyes no longer cry.

So if you see me standing,
If you see me by your side,
Just remember I’m not there for you,
I’m there to show you I’m alive…

Its my turn to move on,
and find someone better,
and to finally let go,
and throw away your letter.

I can let go I swear,
But the violet ink ,
it makes me want to keep it,
This pretty letter close to me…

But no more unwanted crying
Or another inconsiderate lie,
its my turn to look back
look back and say goodbye.
