All I Did

I loved you every moment of every throbbing day
I was there for you in every single broken way
I held your hand and told you that it would be alright
And I was at your grace when you wanted to die that night

I was your shoulder when the tears swallowed your vision
I was your release when life had you imprisoned
It was me that calmed your anger that never stopped
I broke your fall when the ground beneath you dropped

I took the time to guide you through life's storm
Told you, you were perfect when you wished you were never born
I gave you hope when you lost faith in all you had
I dried your eyes when you almost lost your dad

I picked up your mess so you would not be caught
I gave you the lessons no one else had ever taught
I loved you endlessly for every day we were together
Stuck by you, took care of you, through any kind of weather

But somehow you never saw me, never cared to do the same
Never gave me the time, just threw me right away
Loving you meant everything, until the day it died
I'm sorry, but you never noticed me, or how hard I tried

I truly thought that I was set, and you were meant for me
But now, I pack my things and leave you with just a memory
So, miss me when I'm gone, for I'll be missing you
And I'm awaiting that far off day when you finally say "Thank you"
