Behind Closed Doors

by jem   Dec 24, 2004

A happy family full of smiles
Well known throughout the community
But at home the real family appears,
A family so far from unity.

A darkened shadow comes across
The monster within is released,
With the unwanted help of alcohol
The tension is increased.

The lights go out, the doors are closed
The yelling gets louder and worse.
Why cant they just realise
How much it really hurts

To have your hopes and wishes
Of a happy family shattered
When the bottle reaches his mouth
It's like nothing's ever mattered.

So many tears have fallen
A bottle being the cause,
Why do we have to have this pain
A secret hidden behind closed doors

I just had to say that I relate to this so much, it's strange how much I relate to this. but anyway
I really like the subject you chose and the story you put behind the piece. Your choice of words and how you formatted them gave a dramatic effect, and I admire that. Good job
