Masquerade

by Hannah Leigh Pate   Dec 24, 2004

Hide safely behind your lovely masque
Find a feeling that no longer lasts.
Get lost in your ballroom dance
Move gracefully in your trance.
Cover the harmful memories
Forget fairytales and movies.
Dance deep into the cold night
Letting the masque be the light.
Let it guide you
Let it move you.
Have it tell the clever lie
Leaving the world to die.
Let go your fragile hold
On your tormented soul.
Let the masque take you
To the crazed parade.
Let the masque take you
To your masquerade.
