Why don't you see?

by Unseen Exposure   Dec 24, 2004

You stare at my timid reflection
As if I'm so far out
Ignoring my reasons for pain
And what it's really all about

"Katie, what happened to your leg?"

"The razor slipped while I was shaving."

Did you honestly buy that excuse?
Or is it that I'm just not worth saving?

"Katie, what happened to your wrist?"

"Well, I was playing with the cat."

You didn't ask me any more questions
Did you really believe that?

What the hell is wrong with you?
And why can you not see?
I've been trying to tell you for months
You just don't want to hear it from me

"Katie, why is there blood on your robe?"

"Mom, do you even have to ask?"

I'm screaming these signs at you
And you should know, it's your parental task

Why don't you see the things
That are so blatantly put into view?
Take a minute of your time and listen ..
Just because you don't believe it, doesn't mean it's not true.

^ no words? I know it's not very good.

i love that you wrote a poem in the form a message to your mother, and how you cry out for help but she doesn;t seem to know, or want to know. It is something that alot of people our age are going through, trying to communicate with our families when something is wrong, but they can't seem to understand. You put that message across perfectly and in a clear and powerful way. good job as usual
