When it's gone

Everything she knows,
everything they've worked for,
is coming to a close,
way too soon,
far too early.
she feels too young,
too unprepared,
too scared to fail,
not ready to fly.
her friends will leave,
the group will part,
she'll be alone,
afraid of life.
of all the lessons,
they've had since young,
not one ever told them,
about this day to come.
they knew it would happen,
but not told how to handle,
instead it approaches,
as a mystery.
what will she do,
when everything she knows,
everything she's worked for,
is gone?
