Look On The Inside

by Unseen Exposure   Dec 28, 2004

You can't see past my face
And you won't look beyond my chest
Though, if you looked inside me
You'd see me at my best

Don't make me feel so worthless
There's more behind the fearful skin
The girl deep inside me
Begs to feel you ... deep within

Standing outside in the night
Eyes fixed on one star in the sky
I make a wish for you to know me
I beg for you to try

I close my eyes, cross my heart
Breathe in slowly, and pretend
That the angels caught my prayer
And gave it to my star to send

So that everything will change
You'll open up your eyes and see my soul
Instead of just a made up face
And the reflection I behold

Don't degrade me with your words
Or your needy greedy pleasures
Breathe tenderly and slowly
See that I, too, have hidden treasures

Look beyond my clothing
See inside these deep, sad eyes
Ask me why these tears fall down
In silent, bloody cries

Past my broken figure
Lies a girl with feelings strong, and true
Fixate your eyes on mine
And hear what I'm trying to say to you...

I'm in love with you for who you are
Not how you look, or what you possess
Its time you see me for who I am
Nothing more... and nothing less.

^ I know, most of my past few poems have been about a boy. ARGH. I don't have any words for my defense. I just wish he would accept me for who I am, and not what I'm made of! It makes me feel so damn worthless.
