Never have I seen your face
filled with anger and with hate
and never thought I'd hear you
say how could I be late

never have you raised your hand
or threaten me in any way
never have you yelled at me
not like you did today

never have you hit me
never given me a bruise
never raised your voice

never have you scared me
into fearing my own life
never have you punched me
that I wanted to take that knife

and to just cut out

to not have this baby

your unborn child
brought this rage out of you
and you took it out on me
you broke me right me through

I didn't want to tell you
you shouldn't find out this way
but that little beating

my black eye my broken ribs
the doctor said you were insane
so many tears the pain was unbearable

you told me to get rid of it
