To Those Who Judge

You could never know the pain
If you've never touched a blade to skin
You could never understand
If you don't have our feelings deep within

You're entitled to your own opinions
But you are not entitled to judge
Just because you disagree with cutting
Gives you no right to hold a grudge

So trying to humiliate those who do
And then laughing at their pain
It's hardly human-like in my eyes
From it, what have you to gain?

If you have no experience
Then why laugh at our expense?
To me, it's down right sick
And it doesn't make much sense

You don't know what we've been through
Or the reasons why we "cut to bone"
So why pretend you understand
Why take place in a judgmental throne?

It pains me to see a lack of sensitivity
Pathetic to lose a sense of grace
To those of you who degrade people like me-
It's time you're put back in your place

So step down from the pedestal
For no spot-light has been shown
The only thing you've managed to succumb
Is your cold heart heart that's now well known

^ yeah, I know this isn't top notch poetry. But I recently came across a forum about people who cut. And they were songs pretty much directed toward cutters. I thought it was wrong. So I decided to write a poem in my defense. [And I shouldn't have to feel like I need to defend myself either.] I'm pretty upset. And I have lost respect for some of my fellow poets. Oh, but that's life, it's what happens.

    fab poem gal!good on u! i tink its reli brave of u 2 stand up 4 ur beliefs like dat, it ent ec 2 ryt a poem bou defendin ppl who cut. i cut aswell, so i undastnd how u fl..it reli is a cruel cruel world ou der n its sad 2 no dat sum ov us hav 2 go n face it on our own, n wen we do, we stil dnt get support from it...thnx 4 rytin dat poem, it makes me feel gud jus readin it. x

    I agree completely...I have never experience cutting myself...nor do I want to but I do hope that those that do get help...great poem btw it had great flow

    I agree 100%. It's sickening to know that there are people out there who don't understand a damn thing about me and what I do, and even moreso to actually JUDGE our character on it! Sad to say, but even some of my "friends" judge me because of it. The world is full of such sad, pathetic, close-minded people, who should look past their conceited ways, and open their minds to how cutting actually works. Then they'll understand.
