Back Then

by Robyn Thomas   Dec 29, 2004

The birds flying in the field
The children running on the grass
I hold up my hands to shield
These painful moments from the past

These painful moments, these heartrending memories
From when I was carefree and ever so happy
I can't get rid of images like these
Back then my life wasn't crappy

Back then I had my dad
And he wasn't in rehab every month
Back then those carefree dreams I had
And I didn't count the calories of my lunch

Back then my family was happy
And not just barely scraping by
Back then I was sappy
And at sad movies I was allowed to cry

Back then, the past, the painful past
The time when I was allowed to be free
Back then, back then, but here it's now
And the pain shows outside of me

**edited, so now it's better for you =P**
