Coal to Diamonds

by Saige   Dec 30, 2004

Marriage and love are like diamonds
Hidden deep in the dark underground.
Starting off as ordinary coal
In which pressures surround.

It takes time, it takes patience
For these things to endure.
If you mine them prematurely
The diamonds will be impure

Conjoined are the jewelers
Working their skills and their craft.
Fashioning what life has brought together
Making sure the diamonds will last.

Others will mine for finer things
They find this will grow old.
They fail to see a diamond in the ruff
Is much more precious than any gold.

You may wish to keep this in mind
As you start out making your plans.
All diamonds starts off as black coal
Before they reach loving hands.

Marriage and love never finished
Always work in progress for sure.
Crafting your skills through the days
Will be the true test to see if it’s pure.
