Afraid

Is this the way it's supposed to be
this thing that they call love
If so then I don't want to be a part
of what I'm becoming a pawn of.

Together-yet still so far apart
afraid to try to get close
for fear of what is to be the end
forever is what I fear most.

Heartless? Never! I can show you love
as soon as I feel I am appreciated
as for now I have to hide my heart
no thanks to the men I've dated!!
