Dream

by Hannah Leigh Pate   Dec 31, 2004

I see you, but does that mean you exist?
When I wake, it’s only you I seem to miss.
I see you come and go every now and then,
But does that mean you’re my dream again?

You speak, but not a word comes from your lips.
You cry, but not a tear from your eye rolls nor tips.
You reach out, but you can’t touch a soul.
Do you really exist, or am I simply alone?

A lonely shadow on the wall, is all that you may seem,
But, how I long for you to be here; and not be my dream.
To cry and be pitied, to reach out and feel.
To speak and be heard, to exist and be real.

No longer a dream, but an existent soul.
A part of wondrous life, taking your role.
So, when I speak I am finally real to you.
So, when you speak you are finally real too.

No longer a dream, but a person I adore.
No longer a dream, but perfect and more.
To live; to be part of more than it may seem.
To exist; to be part of all but my missed dream.
