Deep down inside we all know we care,
About every life thats lost,
And if we forget those lives,
Its us that'll foot the cost.
Remember all the people,
Unmarked shallow graves,
Lives needlessly forgotten,
The lives we couldn't save,
God knows it hurts and we must grieve,
Don't make your troubles disappear,
Because if we don't remember them,
Its like they where never here,
And maybe the lives won't have been in vain,
All the lives that ended in pain,
Memories preserved in woven chains,
Until only shadows still remain.
Bodies lieing in huge graves,
Arms reaching for the sky,
Forever trapped acting the morbid stance,
In which they died,
Buried without identity,
Nameless dead men gone,
But they're souls should me immortalized,
In word, in book, in song.
Families left broken,
Orphans, widows, friends,
Parents left in agony,
Which time can never mend.
And maybe the lives won't have been in vain,
All the lives that ended in pain,
Memories preserved in woven chains,
Until only shadows still remain.
So light a white candle,
Lets all say a prayer,
So souls may find some peace at last,
And send thanks that we are still here,
And never be ungrateful,
And please don't ever lie,
Never hide your feelings,
And keep your loved ones so close by,
Laugh loud drink deep,
Enjoy every day as though its your last,
And never forget the tragedy,
Of all the lives long past.
And maybe the lives won't have been in vain,
All the lives that ended in pain,
Memories preserved in woven chains,
Until only shadows still remain.
