She Can't Make It Alone

by Chelsea R.   Jan 1, 2005

After her shower she looks in the mirror
but she never feels clean
not after the things she's done
and all of the things she's seen

but no one understands her
they can't see what's under her skin
and they don't know how she feels
or why she always gives in

they just use her and then that's it
she's been hurt by every guy she's ever known
by herself she slits her wrist
and she can't make it alone

she hates to eat and barely ever does
her best friend doesn't understand why
she pushes people away because she's afraid to get hurt
and she just doesn't want to hear another lie

she doesn't keep anything inside
lets her tears out when she's alone
and she isn't shy at all
telling what she thinks is all she's ever known

she just stares at the mirror
and paints all her pain away
to go face all the rumors and the lies
to go on to just another rainy day
