The Wings Of a Fairy

by Natalie McPhee   Jan 2, 2005

Gently across the burning sunset,
The fairy flutters,
She dances,
Pirouetting
To the sound of tranquillity,
She stops,
Darts to the left,
Falls gracefully
To the ground.

Picking herself up from her sudden slumber,
She flies,
Across the lilies,
Along the pond,
Dangling her feet,
Soaking up sweet dewdrops, she floats,
Resting her tired wings on a bluebell’s petal.

Across the water, she glances at a fellow fairy,
His wings glistening against the sun’s rays,
She smiles,
With her inviting eyes she waves,
He waves, singing softly, he beckons,
“Beautiful creature, come dance with me”
Lifting herself up, she takes his hand.

The sun goes down,
The skies sparkling eyes appear,
Skimming across the water, they dance
She parts,
Looking back, she smiles,
He stares, watching her gentle wings fly,
Daintily, she soars,
Past the moon and across the stars.
