Wishing your life away

by thehiddentears   Jan 2, 2005

Once upon a time in a little cottage far far away
There lived a fair maiden of 14 waiting for her day

When her prince would come to take her hand
And take her to his castle in a far away land

She sat there dreaming and looking at the stars above
Waiting for prince charming, the one she’d love

And she sat there dreaming of how they would meet
How he’d kiss her, how he’d sweep her off her feet

As she was lying there dreaming of a man one of a kind
The clock was still ticking, passing all this time

She now was 19 and still as pretty as a girl could be
And she still looks out her window, to the shining sea

3 years later and she’s still looking young
Still wishing away and missing on the fun

Her 30th birthday passes her by and she still sits there
Looking at the mirror, combing her blonde hair

She is now almost 40, still wishing away
For her prince to come riding some day

And she doesn’t listen to what her mother would say
But her blonde hair is slowly turning gray

As she nears 50 she’s starting to turn weak
And her beautiful face is turning bleak

She died last September in her cottage far away
To the last minute she was wishing away

This just shows you if you want your dreams come true
There’s one person who can make them happy, that’s you
