Chiaroscuro

by FTS Miles   Jan 3, 2005

Piercing shadow,
Piercing light,
Cometh the storm,
A chiaroscuro,
Seizing the dawn and stars
Of Our hearts with
Vital contrast and balance,
Granting a dream vision passion
Of Our appropriate temple.
Welcome now friends into the
Vaults of Heaven,
For after Our ancient Fall,
Anon is Our will
The form of Creation.
Rejoice in Our humanity!

Thank you for the very detailed comment, Sean.

I was actually aiming at a perhaps convoluted message, but essentially this: the Fall from grace of humanity was to forget our spark of the divine and invest all our conceptualization of the power of creation on "gods" beyond our reach. But our truest state was as manifesters and creators--of art, of life, of glorious works--of the divine.

Not a very Judeo-Christian outlook. Not a very religious outlook for that matter. But terribly spiritual and hopeful at its core. Rejoice in Our humanity. :)

I liked it, but I had trouble looking for the meaning, as there are so many paths to follow. When you mentioned the vaults of Heaven, and rejoicing in our Humanity, I began to wonder if you were speaking about actual space travel, which would constitute actually entering the vaults of Heaven, in a sense. However, the line about Creation had a tendency to point me in a different direction. I thought that piercing light, along with the shadow, could be found in space, but they can also be found in the human spirit, the human condition, and humanity itself. The reference to art, chiaroscuro, or the use of light and shadow in a picture, reminded me of human creations (art) mimicking nature. I'm pulled in two different directions on this one!
