A Lie

Whispered words of secrets
Haunting me every day
Torn between two friends
Not knowing what to say

A lie that draws a smile
Or the truth which brings a tear
These are the two choices
I don’t know which to fear

All within a moment
Their faces turn to me
Curious of what it is
That they can’t seem to see

Without any warning
I tell them the lie
And I have to live with the truth
As life passes by
