Her Eyes

by Elli   Jan 3, 2005

Her eyes
I can hardly bare too look
All the emotions that burn in them
I can't stand to look

She could've fooled me
If it wasn't for her eyes
Nothing else had to be real
But her eyes, they could hold no lies

For the split second that our eyes met
I could've sworn I felt her pain
I saw her life as a flame
One that could not withstand the rain

She was dying inside
And yet that no one could see
She had them all completely fooled
Before their very eyes she was slipping away

Her problems were getting bigger
But still she hid them all
She needed help
She was going to fall

When she had tried to talk
They hadn't listened
They couldn't see how serious it was
She'd get over it, they had reckoned

How could I help her?
She'd never let me get close
She's cut herself off from everyone
To be alone, is what she chose

I smile at her
I want to let her know
There are people who want to help
She doesn't have to be all alone, no

But the look that I get in return
I can't help but shudder
It's like her light has been extinguished
Never have I seen a look that was deader

She's going to give up
She's going to let herself slip away
Her life is broken
She has no reason to stay
