Half Asleep

by Raven Lynn   Jan 4, 2005

I pick up the phone,
listen to the tone.
Empty silence,
world so dead.
veins iced cold,
muscles tense,
and flesh sore.
Leaves the heart
paralyzed within gasped lungs.
I breath your love,
I'll wait until dark.
By dawn
my tears will have made their sheild.
Break it
it will shatter
and my feelings
wont hold the memory
of your gorgeous face.

Hey, I found this awfully unsettling in a really beautiful way. It does have the feeling of the world between sleep and consciousness. Some great imagery and a real impact created by the short, sharp phrasing. I liked it.
