Forever

It seems like
things are getting better
in my life-
I can breathe-
I see the light

people see me and smile
sometimes call my name-
these past few years
it was never the same-
I felt the shame

I feel accepted-
I'm feeling better-
the life that had been
so rejected-
sad, lonesome, dejected

I still feel the pain
but at times it is numb-
it's worth feeling sane-
it's better than some
it's better than the gun

I'm still on the outside
still walk alone-
but now I have a chance
and maybe a home
here is where the horizon meets forever
