You

by RCM   Jan 6, 2005

You
Lightening and fire and the glow of dawn
The time just following rain.
A star as it shoots through the evening sky
And the roar of a mighty steam train.

That time before the break of day
The hush of a sleeping babe
The song of the cricket, wild birds in flight
The bubbles in a glass of champagne.

The expressive use of your arms and hands
The heart that you wear on your sleeve
The simple ease of your laugh and joy
The sadness you can’t let go.

But me I’m like an open book
An empty jar without a lid
A glass that’s upside down.
But mostly I’m just there for you,
I ask no more than that.
