Killed By Lies

She climbed so high
Got so very far
All she ever did was try
And she became a star

Fame fed her well
It seemed like glory
But it soon changed to hell
A terrible twist in her story

The media wrote lies
Jealous ‘friends’ helped it along
The world's eyes
Never saw the papers had it wrong

A young star, turned victim
Abuse thrown at her in the street
She stopped eating, turned so thin
Watched her world crumble at her feet

Who could defend her?
Not her family, they were dead
Not the ‘friends’ who pretend to her
So she turned to solitude instead

An abyss was waiting for her to fall
She searched frantically for love, loyalty
But nobody came when she called
And the lies grew … took away her beauty

One night she falls into bed
Struggling to understand the cruelty
The abuse swimming in her head
Could she ever be free?

She looked in photos at the faces
Of those who’d sworn
They’d follow her to all places
Now those pictures lay torn

She is trying
But not a soul believes her word
She is crying
But she isn’t heard

People believed the glorified lie
She hated the world for it
She couldn’t grasp why
One day a star, next treated as s h * t

The question of her life
Stands before her tonight
Tearfully picking up the knife …
Maybe now, they’ll believe she was right.
