This Is Not The Way

by Robert   Jan 7, 2005

We have all been where you stand,
most of us were left without a helping hand.
We have all stood and looked at the ground and thought,
what if I jump, what would death have brought.
I see it in your eyes even now that you speak,
say to me that you are nothing but some worthless geek.
Sobbing about your life and what a hard road you must go,
but my friend open your eyes to the bigger show.
I am a human have my vices and folly just like you,
but in my darkest thought I know what I have to do.
You say I am not there for you or why should I really care,
but you don’t see my that when my friend is hurt I am in despair.
You preach that only you can have the right to throw it all away,
but if you were the friend I knew I know you would have the courage to stay.
I can not, nor will dictate to you what to do with your life,
but if you throw it away what chances will you have to be even loved by a wife.
You want to chuck it throw it all away because you see no way out,
but please look at things this way and maybe you should remain stout.
You think this will have no effect on those that truly love you,
can you really see the pain you wish to give the others that love you.
What right to do you have to be so selfish and walk away from it all,
don’t you understand if you die we shall all fall.
Look at me see the pain you will inflict when you are lost,
for what do I have to say so you know the true cost.
I know you hurt we all do I agree,
but this not the action to take can’t you see?
My hands are held out my words remain true.
lets work together and find a path more true.
If I were in your place and you where here,
tell me would your loss of me be your biggest fear?
In truth the battle will always rage and we will always be in pain,
but the joys in our life make it not all in vane.
Hold my hand and let’s talk of brighter days ahead,
for please I don’t want to see my best friend dead.
You would not want that of I,
and you are no different let me tell you why.
The tears we share are those of a friend,
but it is your choice if you want it all to end.
I can beg you and plea with you with all my heart,
but it is you who needs to make a new start.
