My mother

by chitra   Jan 8, 2005

I walked through a gate in life and this I share with a lot

I figured out that I could not be brought forth alone

This gate lies between many bushes and oceans that I had to cross

For 75% of a year I was a burden on you

Only to be found in a place so unknown

To be catered for by total strangers who in the twinkle of an eye

will become my best friends

I looked strangely as I was held by this creature

with two strange looking things

Right in front of her this was to be my food

I wandered through this strange looking place

As I grew in strenght and wisdom

According to what I had come to learn

I realised I was an entity in your pouch

After my formal presentation

I increased wholely to be loved by you

You made me and catered for me as if to be building a foundation

Never to fall

Days will come when I will cease to grow and it will be my turn to hold you

As my responsibility, it was now my turn to build the cracked walls

I will have to fill the empty spaces and love you in turn

For that you have suffered, my wounds that you have healed

My fears, tears and wants that you have conquered

I will love you my dearest

I will hold you when you are old and feeble

I will teach you to bite and chew

I promise to be your friend so dear for you have given me a gift so rare
My Life.
