Four Words Started It All

There were four of many words you spoke to me,
on the night of May fourth, two thousand four,
I asked if we could stay together at least two more months,
and you gave me an answer I wasn’t looking for…
You did not tell me yes or no,
you did not say maybe or we’ll see,
You answered with these four words,
that came as a surprise to me…
“You can have forever,”
is what you said word for word,
Exactly in that order,
exactly as I heard…
I do not think you know,
how much these words meant to me,
I could never have imagined,
what my reaction to these words would be…
When you told me I could be with you forever,
I began to softly and silently cry,
Streams of happy tears,
fell from each hazel eye…
The streams of tears flowed like rivers,
but more meaningful and slow,
They were not as deep as a river by far,
but deeper in feeling than anyone could ever know…
Words cannot describe,
the way you make me feel,
Never before in my life,
has love seemed and felt so real…
You made me feel happy,
something I have not felt in a while,
Something I only feel now when you’re around,
when I cannot help but always smile…
You made me feel wanted,
like something old made brand new,
Not many people make me feel like that,
you are one of very few…
You made me feel secure,
like the world held no fear,
That’s the way you make me feel,
every single time you’re near…
The way you make me feel, broke through the walls,
that I had lain down to protect my heart,
It only took you those four words,
to tear those once solid walls apart…
I was only falling into love,
just a short time ago,
But now there is something,
I want you to know…
I was scared at first to tell you straight out,
what I was feeling inside for you,
Because I was scared of being disappointed,
if you didn’t feel the same way too…
But I’m not scared anymore,
so here it goes,

so with these words I will close…
