She Sat There

by Mira   Jan 8, 2005

She sat there
In the church
As the pallbearers went by
With a grin upon her face

Not feeling any pain
Not thinking of the loss

Sitting in the corner with a grin upon her face

She sat there
In the corner
As the pastor preached of heaven
With a grin upon her face

Not asking why
Not breathing sighs

Sitting in the corner with a grin upon her face

She sat there
Near the mourners
As they moaned and lamented their grief
With a grin upon her face

Not comforting all the rapid tears
Not relieving all the horrid fears

Sitting in the corner with a grin upon her face

She sat there
All alone
As a moment of silence ensued
With a grin upon her face

Not bursting out in awful sobs
Not pining to a waste

Sitting in the corner with a grin upon her face

She sat there
In the sanctuary
Where everyone took note
Of the time she sat in ignorant apathy
Through all the pain and hurt for a father she hardly knew
With a grin upon her face
And the words on her lips
"He lived, he died. Who cares?"
Sitting in the corner with a grin upon her face
