Lasting Mark

by Nici   Jan 8, 2005

People in our lives they come and go,
Others stay on, watch us thrive and grow.
They leave a mark invisible, not seen,
One mark, a footprint, as a sign between,
Two people who care enough to wish,
The other a life of no heartbreak and bliss.

This lasting mark, trodden into our hearts,
Stays planted forever, never departs.
Only deepens its hold, sinking further in,
A constant reminder of thoughts held within.
These many thoughts, all remembered with love,
Allow us some peace, like a comforting glove.

A glove that takes hold, reassures us for years,
Of the friends who we have, to help fight our fears.
Some having many, whilst others just a few,
With their unselfish help we can all start anew.
Fears become faded, lost, cast away,
Replaced by our memories of happier days.
