My Child, I'll Love You Forever

by Tanya, Mom of one.   Jan 9, 2005

Tiny foot steps thumping on the floor,
Little squeals so shrill,
Toys and a make believe world,
Never once being still.

Laughter, smiles, playing "Boo!",
Not wanting to go to bed.
Always finding things to do,
So she don't have to lay down her sweet head.

Smiles first thing in the morning,
The smell of baby morning breath.
Hugs greeting me at her crib,
Lord I love my little girl to death.

I wish she could stay young forever,
Just the way she is now,
If I could capture it, I'd put it away,
And save it for later somehow.

I love to see her learn each day,
But it too brings pain to my heart.
That one day she will be grown,
And then we will have to part.

She has given so much meaning to my life,
When I had no one else, I had her,
I didn't know that being a mother,
Would cause such feelings to stir.

I love you Savannah, you are a prize,
Perfect, even tho your my own,
I thank the lord every day,
For all the love you have shown.

Every parent thinks their child is perfect,
In this case you are more!
I'll love you forever, my sweet child,
Even when your grown, and walk out our door.

Love her every moment in the past, present, and future. She will only be 2 once. She will only be 3, 4, 5, 6...once! Enjoy and savor every day - she will never "leave" you; she will go out on her own one day because YOU taught her how to live life. You are a wonderful writer and I'm sure you're a very good mother.
