The battle part II- view from a soldier in days army

by speculative_scene   Jan 9, 2005

Preparing all day, but mostly set in for battle
Readying the horses by putting on their saddles
Not really paying attention to our surroundings
The night ran upon us their war horns loudly sounding
Alarmingly startled, all our troops tried to fight back
But night's fearless army was strong and we were off track
Of course our weapons were ready, but our hearts were not
Because we really are an easily frightened lot
We cowardly gave up fighting and ran for our lives
Then we got some common sense, from our souls we derived
We would hide in the shadows planning a counter strike
We would use the same strategy of those we don't like
Wait for the opportune moment to even the score.
For this was only a battle in the ageless war
