I wish I was queen Just for today Let me dream Rip the pain away Demand justice for all Make people not blind Make them watch us fall See how they left us behind Queen of the whole world over Make the drunks understand See the truth when they’re sober See what they do with those hands It’s a great big wide place This world is crazy Under it’s pretty face Everything is hazy How many of you … Watched someone break? What did you do? To cure their ache? I can safely say Many people saw Me falling away They don’t watch anymore They happily cover their sin While we quietly slice And keep our pain in Don’t look pretty, but it feels nice They don’t see Don’t comprehend What they do, what it does to me I wish I could make that façade end So if I was queen Just for one day I’d give me my dream And make them watch us fade away Make them stand See the results of their ‘fun’ Cut off their hands And make sure they can’t run Make them feel An inch of what we do The insanity so surreal But it’s nothing new But to them what a shock it would be Yes, if I was Queen I’d make them see Yes, that’s my only dream.© Copyright Sharon Ardern 2005
