I Need You

by Brittany   Jan 10, 2005

I've tried to tell myself a million times,
persuading myself there's other fish in the sea,
But none of this makes sense to me,
Because I already know where I need to be.
I need to be with you.
I need to be holding your hand and looking in your eyes.
I need to tell you about my day and the things people do that I despise.
I need to smell your smell and feel your touch.
I need to have you next to me, yes I know this much.
I know you're scared and we're both pretrified,
But why should we run from our feelings?
Why should we hide?
I've tried so many times, but I can't get over you,
no matter how hard I try or what I do.
I've tried so many times, but I can't hate you,
I don't blame you for what you had to do.
So I come to you with my last and final plea:
Would you be with me?
Would you swoop me up and carry me away?
Would you lock me in your arms and promise everything will be okay?
Would you whisper in my ear that you're here to stay?
Please say you will and promise me this,
because no longer your face do I want to miss.
It won't be easy, I'm telling you this now,
but we will make it work, some way, somehow.
I'm asking for an answer from you,
Not from your friends, don't let them tell you what to do.
For this is your future and your heart,
I hope I'm in both and from them never part.
So think about this and go for a drive in your car,
Turn on the lights and reach incredible speeds,
And try to distinguish between your wants and your needs.
But be careful, cars are dangerous, and so is your heart.
Are you willing to risk it? Are you willing to start?
Because I am, I've never felt this way,
I know my feelings for you will never sway.
I'm sorry for the times I was dumb, stupid and annoying,
but never were you uncaring.
And I'm sorry for the times I didn't hold your hand or kiss you,
But now these things I'm ready to do.
Because you mean so much to me,
and I hope this you now see.
So go ahead and choose,
Do you want to win me, or do you want to lose?
