Don't surrender to depression

by SammiBABY   Jan 11, 2005

I know it’s hard to fight,
Trust me I battled for awhile,
But I’m proof you can get through,
With optimism and a smile

First I tried just being sad,
But that got me no where,
So I told people of my problems
And realized that they care!
I wrote lists of people
Who I love and hate,
There was 60 on the first list,
the second had only eight.
Then I wondered who it’d affect if I was to die,
And I counted so many people that I knew I had to try.

I had so many feelings
That I needed to release,
So I wrote a tonne of poems
And finally found some peace.
Words streamed onto the page,
in a jumbled mess,
but as each word came out
I felt sorrow a little less.
I learnt that hiding pain won’t make it conclude,
so I put it out on paper and gained a better attitude.

Bad things kept on happening,
even when I was positive,
But I knew living with a smile,
was the only way to live.

So I would now like to teach everyone a lesson:
Pain will always go away,
so don’t surrender to depression.
